Summer Camp Ardèche, France

18th July 2011

Monday Monday Monday

This morning a number of us were up at 5:30am!

After breakfast together we broke into our various activity groups for our first day at VC Ardeche...

Jennie, Willy and Richard took us for a hike to a cave where we crept through mud and darkness, occasionally breaking out in song. We were introduced to our new Helmet-friends, which will be accompanying our heads on the majority of our activities in the Ardeche.

With our French instructors, Laurence and Francoise, we introduced ourselves in French and discussed all the different places we all come from and have friends in. We also wrote our French placement tests.

Brian, Liana and Caveman also took half of us Rock Climbing at Le Mazet. Working in groups we supported each other as we climbed up to the top to check out the beautiful view over the Chassezac River.

This evening we checked out the famed Night Market in the medieval village of Salavas that runs through the summer twice a month. No wild boars sightings on the shadowy walk back to camp in Base du Cros... maybe next time!
