Summer Camp Boston, USA
Salem, Mass and the witch trials
On Thursday, our group got up bright and early to an excellent breakfast and a beautiful, sunny day in preparation for our trip. When we arrived in Salem, we first visited the Peabody Essex Museum in Peabody, MA. Campers, counselors, and teachers saw more exhibits from all over the world.
Following the museum, we all toured historical Salem, going through shops, haunted houses, buying gifts, visiting historical graveyards, and eventually going on a Salem 'Witch Walk'. Our tour guide showed us all the history of the town explaining that Salem was the seventh largest city in the country as late as 1790 and how the 'Witch Trials' affected its prominence as a world seafaring port.
Following our trip to Salem, the group came back to campus to enjoy a 'talent show rehearsal' for this Saturday's talent show. In addition, the group watched the movie The Hunger Games Catching Fire as an evening activity.
Friday, the group finishes up its ESL lessons for the week and prepares for a 'dress up night' facilitated by the wife of one of our teachers, Joe Wilson.
