Summer Camp England
A variety of activities
The Monday morning blues were an unknown feeling today as campers prepared for their last week with high spirits. This was especially the case for the Activity and Adventure camp Which would be going to an aerial extreme centre to do high ropes. This involves, among other activities, balancing above the ground attached to a carribeana.
When the campers had finished their evening meal, it was time to prepare for their various activities. The Yellow house wore the craziest clothes they could find, styled their hair uniquely and headed to the gym for a night of ultimate dodge ball.
The Red house participated in an exciting boat regatta. This involved designing and creating their own boats to eventually race them in the swimming pool, however, there was a catch. Each camper had to find our beloved Red counsellors who had hidden themselves all over campus. When a counsellor was discovered, the campers gained a new piece for their boat. After the regatta the Red house enjoyed a pool party and overall the night was very popular.
The Blue house received a guest performer who would teach them the necessary skills for the Brazilian martial arts dance, capoeira. It involves sparring with another partner and practicing kicks, hits and takedowns with musical accompaniment. It is a dance derived from slaves in Africa and, of course, the campers were not permitted to perform any physical contact on another camper but it was definitely a brilliant night for all. Tonight's activities were a brilliant start to what will be an amazing last week at camp!
