Summer Camp England

3rd August 2010

The fun continues...

Tuesday was another fun filled day at Village Camps where campers went off to their programmes. Activity and Adventure went sailing, Performing Arts went to practice for their show and English went to their classrooms in the Old Hall. After lunch, campers had some free time before they went to Secret Garden to go to the afternoon activities that they signed up the night before. The options were Survivor and Jewelry Making.

For Session D however, there were no sign ups. That is due to the fact that Tuesday, at Village Camps is one of the most important days; and it is because it???s International Night! All the campers got into their groups according to the countries they were from and went off to different locations to practice their performance. In the meantime, two campers from each country went to the kitchen to cook a dish that is popular in their country.

After dinner, it was time for International Night to begin! All campers met in the Upper Phoenix where they would be able to eat food from other countries and then do their performances. Once all the colours were ready, one by one they headed off to get a plate and try amazing food from different countries of the world. The food looked delicous. There was everything and anything from Spanish tortillas, tacos, sushi, garlic bread to the Russian pancakes. When all the campers finished eating, it was time for the performance to begin. One by one each country came up to the stage and shared a piece of their culture with other campers. All the countries did a great job with their skits. The kids really enjoyed learning about other cultures and appreciated the fact that they were part of that experience.

By the end of this fun and amazing International Night, campers were able to say that they have learned something new about other camper???s cultures. That is precisely what Village Camps is all about. It is to be able to make friends with campers who come from different countries and share their culture with one another. Overall, it was a successful night and everyone enjoyed it very much!
