Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland

26th July 2010

A little bit of sun after all that rain!

Today all of the programs at Village Camps, Leysin started off in high gear. The language teachers have evaluated the results of their "Placement Activities" and set up classes with students divided according to ability. The tennis campers left for the New Sporting Centre to meet with Steve Loft, director of the California Tennis Academy. The dance campers met with Dancing Lisa and got down to business straight away.

The sports campers started the day down at College Gym, where they got to know each other while playing games. The adventure campers had a morning of team building, playing games and completing group challenges. The little Green campers took part in a scavenger hunt and played name games, so they could become more familiar with their new surroundings and peers.

Once a well deserved meal had been enjoyed by all, the activities started again. The Greens headed down through the village to Old Sports where they played games in the gym, while the Yellows rotated between tennis, shopping and playing ice breaker games. The Reds had a fun filled afternoon of activities designed to make the group closer and the Blue campers had a photo scavenger hunt.

The evening activities began with Blue Meanies for the Green and Yellow campers; a challenging game where the campers get to know their counsellors better by searching for them throughout the building. In Extreme Games, the Red campers had to complete tasks in teams to gain points. The Blues travelled down to the Gym to play dodgeball against their counsellors.

It has been an action packed first day at camp, and it looks like it's going to stay that way for the rest of session 3!
