Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria
Busy Busy Day!
Village Camps, Zell am See, Austria - Day 6!
Today stared off a little slow. The campers were all tired form their fast paced activities last night, some of them saying that they needed to stretch out a little. Many groggy eyes were at breakfast, but all of the campers were ready to go to their activities at nine o'clock.
The Red adventure campers took off on a mountain bike excursion to a small lake not far away with counselors BJ and Lorna. The Blue adventure campers stayed at camp this morning where they spent the entire time with counselor Ben first playing Tennis and then playing hockey in the gym.The yellows headed down to the field where they were very excited to find out that they got to do archery. They have been asking and asking to do archery since the older campers got to do it in the past two days, and now it is there turn. They cheered at the announcement at breakfast!
The language classes worked on verbs in the morning and the English class made posters and did presentations at the end of class just before lunch.
The film class is still working on their movies and have been spotted all over camp wearing different parts of costumes and carrying a range of props that are needed for the various scenes that are scripted for their movies. We are all getting very excited about these films that we will get to see in just a couple of days!
After lunch the camp was supposed to go on a day hike to a local gorge and damn where the scenery is breathtaking, but the weather man had different ideas, so instead of hiking in the pouring rain the directors switched the schedule and sent the campers to an indoor pool instead. The water slide and diving boards kept the campers occupied and helped them spend all of the pent up energy that had developed since lunch time. The kids were all having a blast!
Dinner was a cold cut affair. Tomorrow the campers will eat at a different location and then on Sunday there will be a huge bonanza of food, so this smaller meal was a nice change.
After dinner the campers got a chance to buy fake stocks in companies that the counselors had invented. The campers bought shares and made money depending on how well the companies did. The camper had a choice to buy a drop box pocket, life journal, self applying sunscreen, hair changing pills, facebook glasses, the fart-o-matic, or the self refilling water bottle. The campers got really into the buying and trading of stock while the counselors enjoyed making up bogus stories about their companies as they went up or down depending on the rolling of a red dice. Apart from the room being very loud the campers had a great time, and those who had invested well in the fart-o-matic and facebook glasses made the most money as those two companies tied with the highest share prices.
After the long fun filled day the campers were sent to bed where they needed their sleep in order to be ready for the hike to the mountain hut in the morning.
