Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria
Last Full Day
Today is the last full day of the first session of Village Camps, Austria 2012. The counselors are all very sad to see the campers go tomorrow. Today they all tried to give the campers the best final day possible.
At breakfast we had a fashion show of all of the clothes that had still been sitting in the lost and found box. Luckily almost everything was claimed.
The day started off with the language classes finishing up with their last day of studies and the film class made their final preparations on their films before the second day of film showing in the afternoon.
The activities campers were all broken up into small groups where they had to go around the camp and do different activities as fast as they could. The team with the most points at the end won chocolate. The event had originally been planned to take place on the field, but the rain kept the kids inside. They had to do tasks like stealing tennis balls from a blindfolded counselor or stacking cups as fast as they could. A tie breaker of basket ball and dodge ball was at the end to declare Team Arthur the winner!
After lunch the camp had the chance to see the final films of the second half of the film camp. We could see all of the hard work that was put in during the last two weeks. They were amazing! After the films were all shown we watched a slide show of the session's photos made by the photographer Katie
Then came the awards ceremony where all of the campers were awarded certificates of achievement and three film awards were handed out. Every camper got recognized for their hard work, dedication and achievement during the camp session.
Dinner was another barbecue and we had the special event of counselor Lorna's 25th birthday to celebrate! This was the big food bash before the campers left camp.
Final announcements and organization for the campers departure times were given by the director Stu and then all of the counselors were recognized for their hard work and dedication. We then had the pleasure of watching the final video made by counselor Tiago, it was stupendous!
After everything was said and done the campers got to enjoy the disco night that they had been looking forward to since the beginning of camp! The danced the night away before they were sent to bed to finish packing and to get some good sleep before their long travels in the morning back to a dozen or so different countries.
The counselors stayed up and helped the campers finish their night preparations and then patrolled the hallways to ensure that the last night did not inspire some night time wanderings.
It is sad to see all of the campers ready to leave, but we hope to see them all back next year!
