Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria

6th July 2013

Spotlight on: Film Camp

Today was an exciting day for camp! After breakfast, campers cleaned their rooms and prepared and packed for an overnight trip to a mountain hut. While everyone is off hiking up a mountain, the focus of todays post will be on the Film Camp here in Austria.

This session, there are 12 campers participating in the Film Camp. Over the two week session, each camper writes, directs, and edits their own short film. The films range from short to long, and can discuss any topics or themes the director dreams of. In this session, topics range from a thrilling story of a ghost who haunts Village Camps Zell am See, to an old man who looks back on his life. Campers spend their free time working on the films, and enlist their friends and fellow campers to act in their creations.

The camp is taught and led by Ed McDougall and John Strong, both veteran Village Camps counsellors and teachers. Ed has been with the camp for 8 years, and John is also a multi-returning staff member. They help with filming and the execution of the films, as well as offer advice and make the experience fun for the campers.

Hopefully tonight's mountain hut excursion and adventure will provide many breathtaking photos and funny stories, maybe even some snow!
