Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria

9th July 2013

Spotlight On: German Camp

One of the specific camps that is offered here at Village Camps Austria is German Language Camp. This session, there are 13 campers participating in the German Camp. Each day, campers have three hours of German instruction before afternoon activities. The classes are divided into two parts, depending on skill and knowledge of the language. Topics covered include geography of German-speaking countries, a tour of Piesendorf, and everyday vocabulary. The German Camp instructors this summer are two newcomers to Village Camps: Daniela Heerdt and Michael Wittmer. Daniela is from Germany and Michael comes to Austria from Switzerland.
Later this week, the class will have the opportunity to tour the local fire station and learn about how it operates.

In other news, tonight was International Night! Campers prepared skits, information, videos, traditional dances and songs from a country of their choice. Lebanon, Russia, Switzerland, Egypt, Italy, and Japan were only a selection of the countries represented at tonight's event. We learned the story of the Chinese Zodiac, a few key phrases in Albanian, and a very interesting Romanian dance.

After a day of sun, fun, and hard work, the camp is off to sleep, preparing for an exciting trip to Salzburg in the morning!
