The Mini Descente
A lovely balance of relaxation and all out action was on the activity menu today! All 3 activity groups spent the day together, starting after breakfast with a visit to Vallon village and the weekly Thursday market, followed by the Mini Descente canoe adventure.
Campers enjoyed the vibrant energy of Vallon on the warm morning, indulging cool coco cola, ice cream, buying souvenirs and gifts, and inflatable toys for free time in the river. The beautiful village was filled with fun summer-time vibes, with plenty of visitors and music in the streets, whilst being surrounded by pretty French architecture, language and food.
The weather here in the Ardeche is getting increasingly warm, so having had lunch the Mini Descente canoe trip was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. Campers paddled 4.5 kilometers, utilising skills gained in canoe lessons over the past few days. A Mama Duck Team escorted the paddlers through incredible winding gorges, whilst being navigated safely through rapids by our trusty river team and local river guide.
It wasn't all boat time however! Paddling was interjected with swim breaks along the river to cool down, hilarious water fights and rock jumping.
The evening was rounded up with the 'Super Team Challenge', where campers in groups of 6 had to complete 6 different challenges to collect building materials, making a model airplane. This was judged and given a 'flight test', to much laughter and excitement!
