Summer Camp Ardèche, France
Over and under we go
The weekend was brought a great range of activities for our campers, who today found themselves in extreme environments, either high up rock faces, or deep down caves.
Activity Groups 1 and 2 spent the morning at a Via Ferrata course, an hour drive hour at the pretty village of Theuyts. Climbers took charge of their own safety, clipping into ropes whilst climbing and traversing up, down and all around the beautiful river gorge.
Campers were split into smaller groups and completed the course swiftly, including an exhilarating Tyrolienne zip line from one side of the gorge to the other. At some points it was tough work, especially being up so high, but no challenge was too big for our team! The activity was completed with an afternoon of eating, relaxing, swimming and cliff jumping the cool, clear river.
The group Les Francais enjoyed their daily French lesson in the morning, and after lunch, the group was given the opportunity to get muddy! Gary, our very own camp village cave guide extraordinaire, took the team through the underworld, studying all kinds of cave formations and wading through cold pools of water.
The evening finished off with the 'Egg Shoot', a fun game show where teams had to earn 'Village Camp Thuro' money to purchase goods and build a protective casing for a raw egg. The casing was tested by being shot out of a catapult and walloped into oblivion! Great team work and entertainment for all!
