Summer Camp Ardèche, France

30th July 2011

Letter from Camp Director

Departure day is always a sad time at camp and yet, on that bus, on that plane, in our parent's car, in a taxi ride to the airport with our newly made friends, we can't help shaking the morning gloom by remembering all the fantastic moments lived during these past few precious weeks. Because memories, great memories, fantastic memories were made this summer in the Ardeche!

Indeed, we focused on an overall camp experience of developing a love for the outdoors and meeting new people.
We had so many activities (canoeing, climbing, caving, canyoning,French classes, mountain biking) and numerous special events (trip to Aqualand, an excursion to see the famous festival d'Avignon) that enhanced the overall camp experience. We focused on the environment to help improve our knowledge about what we can do to help our planet and strived to give each camper the knowledge needed to help preserve their space on our planet.

We also helped build character and self-esteem in each camper by having them meet new people and learn new talents which helped in developing friendships and skills. My fondest memories of being a part of a camp are the relationships that would not normally be built during the school year. Some of my best friends in the world are the ones I met at summer camp. Our goal was that every camper made a strong connection with others all the while having an enormous amount of fun! Well, I believe that goal was met this past summer at Village Camps in the Ardeche!

So I hope that we can do this again next year!
See you next summer!
