Summer Camp England

SUMMER ARRIVES

The Summer finally arrived in England for the first of our Excursion days this weekend. Our destination was the Trafford Centre in Manchester, where plenty of fun awaited.

However, before we could let all of our excited campers shop to their hearts content, we had to allow them to have a little sleep in after such a busy and exciting Big Night. Big Night for Session 2, 2012 came down to the wire with colour leaders Joe and Angela, triumphing with the Green team. In a close second place was the Blue Avatars led by colour leaders Monika and Nate. The opening ceremony was amazing and was won by the Red Mermaids and the Black Ewoks. However, the green team competed tremendously well in all of the relays and games and at the end, deserved their victory and pizza party for next week.

After the well earned rest, all the campers travelled the 2 hours to Manchester???s Trafford Centre for some retail and fast food therapy. The enthusiastic group of campers attacked the shops like it was a closing down sale and found some great bargains in Manchester???s premier shopping venue. However it wasn???t all shopping.

The Yellow group took time out to go and watch the recently released movie, ???Ice Age ??? Continental Drift??? and finished their day playing a game of Laser Tag against each other. The Laser Tag was one of their highlights of camp and many of the campers were eager to have another go.

The Red and Blue groups watched the eagerly anticipated movie of the year, ???The Dark Knight Rises???. A long movie with mixed reviews but a great opportunity to work on their understanding of English. Everyone made sure that before they left they had a good meal and prepared for their journey back to camp. A lot of satisfied campers, many shopping bags and weary staff returned from a great excursion on a beautiful English summers day.
