Grande Descente, day 2

2ND day of Grande Descente! Wake up at the Gournier bivouac site. After putting our affairs away, breakfast was served by some of the counselors: cereal, yogurt, bread, jam, nutella and juice. We then hauled everything down to the beach and go ready to launch for the day. 1st rapid: la toupine or whirlpool in English! After the first few rapids we stopped to take part in a different activity: the infamous raft race! By getting into teams of at least 4 boats, we had to then construct a ???raft??? and paddle down a calm section of the river. Before lunch, we hiked up to an ancient Templar site from the 12th century, used as a retreat for leprosy patients. And???.what a view of the Ardeche below! Upon our arrival, the staff had cold sodas for us and we hopped on a bus back to camp.
Marco and Analisa had prepared a traditional Italian pasta buffet for dinner and we were all so very excited to sample the different sauces! Yum???.not to mention how hungry we were after paddling for 2 days! That evening, some of the Red and Blue campers went to the Pequelet camping next door to sing karaoke while the rest of us relaxed and watched a movie.
