Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland

21st July 2011

International Night!

The sun hasn't won the battle against the clouds yet, however our spirits are high and the fun continues.

All the Sport and Adventure campers jumped on the bus and headed down to the sports centre. The Adventure campers were taken by their counsellors on a military style obstacle course through the forest resulting in some very dirty and wet children. The Sports camp were playing street hockey and beach volleyball (despite the weather). The Dance campers unusually didn't spend all their time in the auditorium, part of the morning was spent in the Arts and Crafts room creating back drops and outfits for their performance tomorrow night. The Greens had a busy morning preparing for international night, they worked on their skit and created something in the kitchen to share with the rest of the camp.

Just like yesterday the afternoons activities were split between the forest and the hotel. All the groups who played capture the flag yesterday were in the building today preparing skits, creating props or making food to represent their respective countries and vice versa.

The evening meal was unlike any other we have had all session as the food was not served by the kitchen staff in the dining room, but epresentatives from each country had a table set up with an array of different foods ready to serve the kids. It was a great way for the campers to experience foods from the different cultures of their fellow campers.

International Night went off with a bang, there were loads of amazing performances from all over the world. Everyone was able to take something from the experience as they may have learnt something new about the countries their peers are from or just had a great time watching their friends perform.
